Introduction
The Distance Learning Center @ Kasule (DL@Kasule) in conjunction with Kasule High School (KHS) have launched a secondary education distance learning program which offers significant opportunities to improve access to education for those who missed the chance to get it and also improve the quality of education for those studying under resource constrained learning environment.
The major aim is to create an opportunity for the many adults who missed the chance to acquire secondary education to access it while continuing their day today responsibilities or students in secondary schools who need specialized subjects which are not offered by their respective schools.
The program has commenced with ‘A’ subjects (Arts) 2009 but it will eventually cover all the subjects at ‘A’ level and ‘O’ level.
Brief background on Kasule High School and the Distance Learning Center @ Kasule
Kasule High School and the Distance Learning Center @ Kasule are running under the overall umbrella of Haji Kasule Education Canter (HKEC).
The Center was founded in 2004, with the aim of developing the distance learning alternative. The Center is located in Wakiso District 12 miles (18Km) from Kampala along Hoima Road.
The Strategy of the Center is to develop a standard Secondary school which is competitive and self-sustainable as a regular school. At the same time KHS would also be center for the Distance Education Program.
The distance education mode has a core well trained dedicated. Such staff need are experts in both their subject areas as well as in distance education mode. The teachers from KHS directly involved in designing and delivering distance learning material.
